Distribution: Sipaliwini region of Surinam

Favoured terrain: This is a predominantly ground dwelling species, though in the wild it often deposits its eggs in branches as much as 5 metres from the ground.

Dificulty: A robust frog, easy to keep, and due to its large size, easy to feed, although sometimes tricky to breed

Notes: Dendrobates azureus is a popular dartfrog - one of the larger species, but stunning in apperance.
