Common name: Phantasmal poison frog

Distribution: Andean slopes in Ecuador

Favoured terrain: Amongst leaf litter on the forest floor.

Dificulty: Easy

Notes: Epipedobates tricolor is probably the best known of the Epipedobates frogs, being widely kept in vivaria. It lays large clutches of eggs, and could be considered one of the easiest dart frog species to breed. It is a small frog, with some variation in colour; they can be brown to red, with white, green or even blueish stripes.
